Rabbi Doug Heifetz has served as the rabbi of Oseh Shalom since August, 2006. He collaborates with synagogue staff members and volunteer leaders to foster a warm, inviting spiritual community, rich with activities for all age groups. He has taught dozens of adult education sessions, and has guided more than 150 young students and adults toward becoming bar/ bat mitzvah, helping each one to focus on their individual connection to Jewish life.

He has officiated at scores of other life cycle eventss , especially weddings and funerals, helping to honor and celebrate the unique human spirit in each case, and also to connect each family and individual to Jewish life.

Rabbi Doug deeply appreciates the congregation’s kindness and warmth over the years. After the end of his tenure at Oseh Shalom, he plans to devote himself to Lost & Forged, his silversmith company where his artistic jewelry was featured in celebrity gift bags at this year’s Golden Globes, and Mosaicverse, a forthcoming web service for the study of the sacred writings of the world’s faith traditions. He will continue to live nearby in Silver Spring together with his wife, Elaine Lippman, and their children, Judah and Dalya.
