Retreat is Intimate, Spiritual and FunRetreat Registration Form, pdf 11 th Annual Oseh Shalom Synagogue Retreat Once again we are aiming for the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend of January 18-20, 2008 for our Retreat at Cacapon State Park in West Virginia , 2 hours away. This year the theme is going to be about our covenant with the earth, environmental issues and Jewish/Reconstructionist values. It is remarkable what our sources, the Torah itself, the Talmud, later scholars and sages, as well as our own siddur say about our relationship with the world around us. Yet there are competing positive values that can't be dismissed, as well as psychological, emotional, practical, and even scientific barriers that come into play as we make our decisions and choices. This is not just a matter of learning the “how-to's” of recycling, and saving gas, but a paradigm shift, new perspectives, and a values-based spiritual approach. Of course, there will be the “Ruach” services, the lively meals, the famous Talent Show, music and singing, hikes and nature, Berkeley Springs, activities for kids and teens, and more. The registration form is attached in the Shalom, can be gotten from the OS website, or from the listserve, or from the synagogue in the hallway. We invite members, prospective members, relatives and friends to join us. For questions about the Retreat, the fees, the form, or whatever, contact Eric Metzman or Heidi Rhodes.
