Oseh Shalom’s Teen program combines a stimulating Confirmation/Post Confirmation program with a relaxing social atmosphere geared to helping teens connect. The school offers two programs: TeenConnect and Torah Study. For many teens, the only time they see their religious school friends is when they are at Oseh Shalom.
With TEENCONNECT, our post-B’nei Mitzvot students have a chance to get together several times each month for activities designed to help them experience Jewish life beyond Hebrew school. We help them answer the question, “What does it mean to be a Jew in today’s adult world?”
TeenConnect meets the first and third Sunday of each month from 10:50 to 11:30 in our new Teen Lounge. There is also a fun outing once a month on the weekends.
This class offers teens an opportunity to dig deeper into Judaic liturgy and literature. Students meet twice a month to study the Mikra Gedolot. They study the historical comments from Judaism’s greatest sages, along with modern commentary, as a means of making sense of Jewish laws, values and identity in today’s world.
Torah study meets the second and fourth Sunday of each month from 10:50 to 11:30 in our new Teen Lounge
Teens are also encouraged to become Madrichim, teachers’ assistants, who work with the younger children during the mid-week and Sunday programs, help in the office or otherwise contribute to the school. Teens can earn community service credit or be paid for their time, earning valuable work experience.
